Picigin ( pihtsihgheen) is amateur sport
game on some beaches in Croatia, specially it is very popular in
Dalmatia and Split on the beache Bachvice, Montenegro. Picigin played
with ball by people of all ages and both sexes. For this sport there are
no strict or formal rules but is played according to tradition with
little variation. Terrain must be on a sandy beach in shallow water.
There are 5 players but can be more, two of them are called sidruni (
they are called because these players don’t move from their places ) and
the other three pleyers are trkachi ( runners ). Players use just one
stroke of the palm of the hand throwing a small rubber ball diameter of
5-10 cm and weight 50-150g. to each player without losing it and making
as much effort as possible to get the ball – and that means jumping
around and throwing your body into the sea. The goal is to keep the ball
in play as long as it may be in the air.
